Advice for Breeders

DTA is currently working on security recommendations for breeders. If you have any advice or tips in this area, please do get in touch with us at admin@dogtheftaction.com

Keep your dog safe!

DTA cannot stress enough the importance of keeping your dog safe and being aware of the threat of dog theft.

Dogwatch UK recently posted the following advice:

“Staffordshire police report that gangs of thieves that steal dogs to order are identifying their targets by daubing the letter “K” on gateposts.  The burglars return later to take the animals which are then sold on an Internet black market.  The most popular targets are trained working dogs and the biggest rise in thefts has been among cocker spaniels.  About 3,500 dog thefts were reported across the country last year, up by 17% on the previous year.  The police stress that it is essential to have your dog microchipped.”

If this is happening in your area, please report it to your local police.

This year was a very special Crufts for DTA, following the announcement of a new type of scanner technology which would indicate whether a dog had been reported lost or stolen to the database. Continue reading ‘After the Show: Crufts 2013!’
